August 30, 2012 Run And My Garage Door....

So today after work I pulled in the driveway and hit the garage door opener... nothing happened. I hit it a few more times thinking this may open the garage door... nope. So I got out and punched in the code... Nothing. So I dug through my purse and found my house keys ( they needed to be dusted off, I haven't used them in years) I went to the front door, lugging my purse, work bag, a bag of crafting goodies from Micheal's, my large cup of ice tea and pushed the door opened. Only to hear the alarm count down, I'm in high heels, trying to run thru the house lugging all my stuff, tripping over my dog to turn off the alarm before it alerts. I send my Hubby a text "Hey the garage door opener is broke" 

No biggie I'm in the house all is good!

Hours later I am ready for my run, I go out to the garage. I open the door and realize I can't close it once I am out, so I do what any reasonable person would do, I hit the button, make a run for it, duck my head and leap over the invisable line! Oh Yah! I made it, I'm thinking I am pretty cool at this point. I text my Hubby I am hitting the trail and take off running. 

I run to about the 1.5 mark and check my phone, and he sends me a text "Don't use the keypad it is broke"
So I'm thinking to myself.. No kidding I just told you that a few hours ago and I continue my run. 

Ok so are you catching on?? I am about 3/4 of the way home and realize he is telling me not to use the keypad because I won't be able to get back in the house. Derrr... So now I am running knowing that I am going to have to have him come home to let me back in the house LOL!

That's my story, I saw his smirk from a mile away as he pulled up, me standing in the driveway trying not to look helpless!

August 29, 2012 Run

To treadmill or not to treadmill that was the big question today! We ran late after school between the dentist, homework and dinner it ended up being too dark for me to run on the trail. I am not a "treadmill runner" I will walk the treadmill, but I am always afraid I am going to fly off if I take off running and loose my footing. Well after much debate I jumped on and hoped for the best. 
It was still 100 degrees outside so it was probably about 115 in my garage so not only did I run but it was like being in a sauna! My ipod died, and I had to stare at the garage wall... I so much prefer the trail, outside!

I had to take a picture of my treadmill stats, I'll need to research runkeeper to see if it can track for me...

August 27, 2012 My 3 mile.. I mean 2.5 mile tale...

So when I first attempted to run my Husband and I went out on bikes and we marked the 1.5 mile mark. So my goal was to run all the way to the 1.5 mile mark and back home making my run 3 miles long... Fast forward weeks later and I did it! Yippee I was so excited, proud, thrilled ETC! Fast forward to me deciding to bring my Iphone with me and a cool new App.. Run Keeper.... BOO HOO! I cried when I realized the marker was off and this whole time I was actually only running 2.5 miles (insert sad face here)

So for the last few weeks I have been running and pushing myself just a little more each day and finally TODAY after weeks of ALMOST there... I did it! I actually ran the entire 3.00 miles! (Insert Happy face Here!)

August 26, 2012 Run and Living the Good Times!

While I was running today I was thinking about how lucky I am. I don't want to look back on my life five years from now and say Oh yah... those were the good times! I keep reminding myself that I am living... right now... the good times! 

My Mom has in the hospital for the a few days this week. I was super worried that something awful might happen, but I just kept the faith and reminded myself about how lucky I am that I live 1 block away from my Mom, that I was able to be by her side within minutes of my Step-Dad calling and that she is home now and doing better.

I am so lucky that when I come running through the door after a run, sweaty and gross and say to My Hubby Come and give me a hug, he does and when I jump up and down saying whoot whoot these are my skinny jeans I just put on, he reminds me it is about being healthy not only about lookin' good!

And how my girls put on their running clothes so Mom doesn't have to run alone, I am reminded of how lucky I am!

So today while I ran, it was a much smoother run as I thought about how lucky I was to be out there running free! Reminding myself that I am living the good times!

August 15, 2012 Run

There are a few fears I have while running.... One of which happened today. I was running along and out of nowhere 2 dogs came chasing after me. I stopped got on my tippy toes (like that is supposed to do something??) Screamed in the deepest loudest voice I could "GET!!! GO HOME!!" and can you believe they actually went the other way! Wow was someone on my side tonight! I feel like I need to run with something to protect myself!

Anyways... I survived if I wasn't caught so off guard I would have snapped a picture!

August 13, 2012 Run

We have had a such high temperatures the last few days.... after 4 days of heat advisories, it was finally lifted today so I hit the trail.

Me... A Runner??

A little history on me....

In January 2012 I decided to hop on the health train my Husband was already on. We decided as a family to get fit. I have shed many tears on my journey, battled my own inner voice and over came the Arizona Heat.

From January until May  I did something everyday, walked, rode my bike, and started hiking. Nothing to serious just staying active. When I finally decided to try running, I thought it was just not meant to be. I could barely make it to the end of my block! 

On May 19 an opportunity came up to Hike Humphrey's Peak! The highest peak in Arizona, Elevation: 12,637 feet. I had 6 weeks to kick my workout into gear and be ready for the big hike. And running became "My Thing"

Fast forward to 6 weeks later, the hike was an amazing success! I hiked with not a single issue!  And the next day I felt awesome! No aches no pains.

I have continued running ever since then. I have been running now for 12 weeks. 

I decided it was time to actually start tracking my stats. My only regret was not doing it from the start! But I can only move forward!
